Personalising Care of Older Women with Breast Cancer in the Era of Geriatric Surgery
Dr Clement Chia
Consultant and Head of Breast Surgery Service, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital

Dr Chia is Founding member of the Geriatric Surgery Society of Singapore and has special interest in the field of older women with breast cancer. He has on-going research collaborations with University of Nottingham, UK and also shared his work at the Global Chinese Breast Cancer
Alliance Conference in 2023. He has published actively in the field of geriatric surgery and was the guest editor of a special issue on ‘The Era of Geriatric Surgery’ published in the Annals Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Perioperative care of a geriatric oncological patient
Dr Tan Boon Hian

Dr Tan graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore, in 2014, and obtained his MRCP (Edinburgh) and MMed (Internal Medicine) in 2016 and 2017 respectively and completed his Geriatric Specialty training in 2022. He is the co-lead of Sengkang General Hospital’s Geriatric Perioperative Service (GPS). Apart from clinical work, he is a Physician Faculty of SingHealth Geriatric Medicine Senior Residency, as well as a Clinical Instructor of Duke-NUS Medical School and an Adjunct Lecturer of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is part of Sengkang General Hospital’s Quality Improvement Committee, and a Trainer of the Advance Care Planning team.
His current interests include perioperative geriatric care and frailty with hopes to bring comprehensive, consolidated and coordinated geriatric care to the perioperative geriatric population.
